Psychotherapy and Medication: A Beneficial Combination

If you have experienced a mental health issue, you know that both medication (when indicated) and psychotherapy can be valuable tools to manage your symptoms.  Using both psychotherapy and medication management at the same time is a great way to address a chemical imbalance while simultaneously learning healthy coping strategies. A psychiatrist is a medical professional who is trained both to prescribe and manage medication and provide talk therapy to help you meet your mental health needs from several angles at once.

Medication management is an important part of the mental health puzzle for many people. While psychotherapy can teach you about your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, medication (when indicated) can help balance the chemicals in your brain, making it easier for you to see success with psychotherapy.

Both medication management and psychotherapy are effective tools on their own, but if you are experiencing symptoms that are interfering with your daily life, then you may have the best outcome when these tools are used together.  If you're unsure about starting medication management or psychotherapy, or you're new to the idea of seeking help to treat mental health issues, we are happy to speak with you about how we can best meet your needs.
